Exercise: Squats

Squats are a great way to add function, cardiovascular benefits, strength, and power to your life. There are many variations on how to perform this exercise. My preference is having the weight close to the body as shown in the picture, holding 1 or two weights at shoulder height; this helps to encourage good posture without leaning forward. If you don’t have weights, grab a crate or a laundry basket. Remember, squats are a glut muscle exercise; they should not be felt in the knees or back.
